The Evolution of Earphones

For decades, hundreds of millions of people used their earphones for listening to music and other sounds. The ubiquitous cables trailing from our ears became the icon for knowing that someone was not listening to you. Moreover, earphones are some of the first wearable devices which gained ubiquity and society acceptance After many years there became tons of reasons for them to be altered within the wearables industry. At WT | Wearable Technologies, we keep a close eye on how earbuds have evolved. Here is a bit of our previous research. To add, below is a glance at the latest smart hearables that will be stars on the technology market for 2016.

Huawei
The TalkBand B2 of Huawei is a fitness tracker with a Bluetooth earpiece all compacted into an activitz tracking wristable. Its 24/7 monitoring, you can track your sleep patterns and your heart health by reviewing the companion app. To top it off, the TalkBand B2 has voice controls; is pairable with iOS and Android devices; and features a long-lasting battery. With that said the TalkBand B2 is an impressive combinatione.

Ear-O-Smart
Ear-O-Smart is a wonderful womans hearable – presented at our conference in 2015. We believe people will go crazy about this product in 2016 because it is the first smart earring on the market. By combining fashion and electronics, you can now easily monitor your activity without compromising your looks. The fashionable earring connects to your smartphone via Bluetooth 4.0 and allows you to keep track of your heart rate, on top of calories burned and activity. Nevertheless, the form factor for the sensor technology is the clasp used to hold in place any stud earrings. Therefore, the wearers remains unique in style while secretly monitoring their body.

Resound
Resound is designed for those that are hard of hearing. This smart hearing aid also has been noted for therapeutic use for those who suffer from tinnitus. Resound enhances sound from the iPad,iPod and iPhone. Even more so, you can conduct video chat and hear the person as clear as a bell. There are four sound therapy options. Along with the app, you are allowed to be able to adjust the sound for the Resound hearing aid. With the retail price of $2,000, considerably less expensive than a regular hearing aid.

Biosport is a baby of SMS Audio and Intel. When a heart rate monitors meets headphone it must be loved. The Smart earbuds feature a built-in optical sensor that monitors your heart rate without straps or wires. It measures changes in blood flow through the capillaries for accurate heart rate detection. On top of that, the earbuds provide great sound quality during workouts – meaning they are waterproof.

Eargo
Last week, our WT | Wearable Technologies Conference in Munich welcomed to stage Daniel Shen – the Co-founder of Eargo. Their product, Flexi Fibers, is named one of the most innovative products in 2015 by Popular Science. Flexi Fibers is a hearing devices that can enhance your hearing ability in a noisy background. It is equipped with layered noise reduction technology to give you a cleanly amplified sound and an extended frequency range up to 7750 Hz. Besides, Flexi Fibers is promised to be very comfortable. It allows air to flow in and out of the ear because there are so many individual Flexi Fibers which allows for the ear to remain “breathable.” A plus for the product is the one-day battery.

The smart hearing devices have endless opportunit in the wearable market. Keep following up with us to stay updated in wearable technology ecosystem.
