Wearable Technologies at the BIKE EXPO 2009
Munich, 23.07.2009 – Where was I, where am I and where do I want to go? The tracing and real-time transmission of one’s location in combination with performance monitoring is currently a trend that is becoming increasingly important for athletes. And when the batteries are empty the sun takes over.
The Wearable Technologies Show will present the bike season’s latest mobile trends at the BIKE EXPO 2009 in Munich from July 23rd to 26th.
This special exhibition, already established at the ispo, is taking place in Hall B6 (Stand 530) is on the one hand a presentation platform for Wearable Technologies products currently available on the market and is at the same time a networking event that brings the bike market and variable providers of innovative technologies together.
The Bluetooth SIG has laid the foundation for mobile data transfer with Bluetooth low energy, their new data transfer standard. Even today, it is hard to imagine electronic components for the sport industry without it – especially when it comes to the integration of multiple sensors and the readout of data and performance profiles. Consequently, products like wireless bike computers, pulse oximetry sensors, pedal frequency meters, heart-rate monitors and other monitoring tools which are already available on the market will become easier to integrate with readout devices such as mobile phones, watches or computers. In addition, such devices will benefit from the economical power consumption and in turn improve your athletic activities through increased performance.
Numerous new applications will be enabled through the new Bluetooth standard. Bluetooth has established their own ideas competition for new application ideas – the Bluetooth Innovation World Cup.
Product and application ideas in the fields of sport, fitness and healthcare will be evaluated be a panel of renowned experts and the winner will be presented with a QID voucher and Euro 5.000,- cash prize at the ispo winter 2010.
In case your batteries are low or empty then the SolarShopper with its integrated solar cells will ensure that you have the power supply needed while out and about. Have you been on a bike tour and wanted to take a photo with your mobile phone, only to see that the battery is empty? It does not have to be like this. The trendy solar bag can charge almost any mobile phone or iPod/MP3-player.
GPS represents the trends of the sport market
O-Synce provides, with their Navi2Move, the smallest mapless navigation in the bike and outdoor sector. Additional products like the Mikro-Computer with a simple touch-display and the Makro-Computer with remote control are operable with elementary hand movements. O-Synce is a company that specializes in innovative and trendy technology in the fields of micro-electronics and digital sensors for speed, distance, heart and strength measurements as well as for environmental data such as temperature, altitude, barometric and orientation.
sportsCurve provides athletes and sport event organizers with real-time GPS tracking and visualization. sportsCurve combines modern developments in GPS and telecommunication – it is extremely small, lightweight and easy to use. The combination of state of the art mapping data and intelligent computer algorithms is the perfect basis for monitoring and recording individual tracks in real-time.
Furthermore, the Wearable Technologies Show will present the Nokia Sports Tracker – a GPS-based application for compatible Nokia devices designed to record athletic activities. It records information such as speed, distance covered and active time; all data is saved in a training log which can be accessed through an internet portal and tracks can be uploaded, compared and shared.
