A Simple Solution to Power Wearable Devices

There are thousands of reasons to attend our WT | Wearable Technologies Conference in San Francisco in July and K3OPS Co-Founder Xin WEI is definitely one of them. Learn more about him in the interview below:

How did you come up with the idea for K3OPS and when was your company founded?

K3OPS Limited was incorporated in June 2014, just after developping our RF harvesting energy that took us 3 years. At that time, we were also very involved with 3D printing (our prototypes were 3D printed, reducing the cost and offering us possibilities like creating impossible shapes). The name K3OPS remains for the pyramids of course but also the legacy behind. I will be presumptuous but I’d love that our company contribute to change the words as Egyptians did in their time. We want to change the way we waste electricity and share it with the most people. My business partner is fond of Egypt and so I am.

Besides this extremely exciting enabling technology you are also involved in a wearable product called SQUID. Can you tell us a bit more about it?

Squid is, one of the first products, we thought about. Of course, we figured if there was an electromagnetic pollution issues. So we thought, we should let the people know where there are exposed or not to make people know how was the environment they lived in. It is an amazing product for the people very sensitive to electromagnetic pollution. They help them live in a safer world. As we all know, the intersection between health monitoring and wearable devices is an important reality moving forward, so to be different, we created a wristband that combines your EMF exposure (we also added a PM2,5 sensor) with your physiological constants (heart rate and body temperature) you get a complete analysis of your well-being. SQUID wristband informs wearers when they reach a critical level of exposure pollution that could harm them or if their vital signs suddenly change. This wristband is an “Always know how your body reacts”. And of course it and doesn’t require any batteries nor has it to be charged since the wristband embedded K3OPS’ technology

Can you give our readers a sneak peek on the topic that you will be covering at our conference in San Francisco on July 10?

At the 16th WT | Wearable Technologies Conference in San Francisco, I will come with a simple solution to power all wearable devices by harvesting RF energy and explain how we made it possible in an easy way. All together, we can make our society a greater and greener one and stop wasting, uselessly, energy. I won’t say more, I want you to come!

What is your favorite wearable product?

My favorite wearable product is one that will be at your conference, one from another speaker, a company with a tremendous potential. A splendid product… I will let you guess until we all are together.
