Industrial Wearables: Interview with Tarek Ouertani, ProGlove

We are officially opening the year 2017 with WT | Wearable Technologies Conference 2017 EUROPE! The conference takes place in Munich on February 7-8 at ICM. Join us and be part of our 11-year journey and learn more about new market trends and technologies in just 2 days!

One of many speakers this year is Tarek Ouertani working at ProGlove. To find out more about their revolutionary smart glove and his view on industrial wearables read the interview below.

Can you explain to our readers a bit about your product?

ProGlove is a smart glove that enables manufacturing and logistics staff to work faster, safer and easier. Process steps can be documented handsfree and the smart glove gives instant feedback to its user. We connect the worker to the industrial Internet of Things.

Where do you see ProGlove in 5 years?

In five years we see ProGlove as the No 1 industrial wearable company. Our products will enable the information flow between industry decision makers and the worker and making manufacturing more efficient and flexible.

Can you give us a sneak peek on why people should attend your speech in Munich?

I’m going to tell you where and how wearables are used in the industry right now and how they will be used for in the future. And of course you are going to experience a live demo of our products.

How do you see a wearable market evolving in the next 10 years?

In the next 10 years we will have a lot of experiments for a lot of niche markets. Although there will be certain key technologies for wearables, I don’t see the one wearable that is used in every occasion. It’s more likely that we have for every situation where additional information or communication or collected data is useful, certain smart things – like certain wearables.

What is your favorite wearable and why?

Apart from ProGlove: I’m looking forward to truly virtual / augmented reality games – enabled by wearables. I don’t care which form factor those wearables have as long as they enable the game experience.
