Fighting Migraines

Migraines are pulsating headaches, often on one side of the head. Physical activity may intensify the pain, but symptoms can vary from person to person and from one attack to the next. Three times as many women as men have them so I guess we are the lucky ones.

Some people with a migraine experience aura. The most common auras are visual, such as flickering lights, spots, or lines.  Auras typically last between five minutes and an hour, with a 60-minute “skip phase” before the headache pain sets in, she says. Some patients have auras without a migraine-type headache or any headache at all. Waking up tired or having trouble falling asleep are common problems in people with migraines. What do these all symptoms mean? People who suffer from severe migraines could tell you that continue with your normal daily life is hard. Normal things such as going to work, exercise or simply cooking become impossible tasks. Now those times are over!

Theranica Bio-Electronics is developing the Nerivio Migra, a disposable neuromodulation patch designed to treat migraine headaches. The “smart” patch is designed to be applied at the onset of a migraine attack, to provide “rapid and significant pain relief.” Theranica patches (as well as other wearables in plan) are made of a single unit which is comprised of electrodes; a safe, low-powered battery; and a smart chip, developed and designed by the company. This chip is responsible not only for the creation of ENS/NMES pulses per the user’s definitions but it incorporates smart features like therapy efficiency control and safety mechanism. It utilizes Electronic Nerve Stimulation and/or neuromuscular electrical stimulation in conjunction with wireless communications technology – using each individual’s smartphone as the ENS/NMES devices, avoiding the need for additional wired electronic device. Using smartphone as an advanced ENS/NMES device enables the users to activate and control Theranica’s wearables over Bluetooth Low-Energy (BLE), but also opens up the connection and access to the Internet.

Another drug-free migraine pain relief solution is Cefaly.  It is FDA approved certified medical device designed to treat and prevent migraine headaches. Cefaly is the first cranial analgesic electrotherapeutic device to acquire ISO medical certification proven effective on migraine pain with no side effects. Most headaches and migraines involve the trigeminal nerve. Its superior branch ends at the exit of the eye socket, underneath the skin of the forehead. An adhesive electrode is positioned on the forehead and Cefaly connects to this. Through the electrode, Cefaly generates precise micro-impulses in order to stimulate the nerve endings of the trigeminal nerve. Neurostimulation of the trigeminal nerve with Cefaly® produces a relaxing effect. Regular repetition of this relaxing effect helps reduce the number of attacks of headache and migraine.

Last but not least we have VITOS . The focus of migraine therapy with VITOS is the activation of the parasympathetic part of the vegetative nervous system. This part of the nervous system is always active when we recover or rest – it is responsible for cell regeneration and metabolic processes. The stimulation of the parasympathetic nervous system thus initiates the necessary regeneration processes of inflammatory areas and acts as a recovery accelerator. Neurostimulation with VITOS is used both as a migraine prophylaxis and as an acute attack.

Migraines are normally treated with medication which can lead to side effects from the use of it and the person becoming depend on pain killers. The solutions above are drug- free pain relief devices with no side effects that will help you to continue with your daily life even when suffering from a migraine.
