North Central College Opens Cutting-Edge Engineering Lab with Funding from OMRON

North Central College, a private liberal arts college located in Naperville, Illinois celebrated the opening of a new state-of-the-art engineering lab in its Dr. Myron Wentz Science Center on May 8. The funding for the construction of this lab was provided by the Omron Foundation. The new Omron Design and Automation Lab will give North Central College students opportunities to work with a wealth of cutting-edge technologies currently used in the automation industry. And on a special note, Ranndy Kellogg, President & CEO of Omron Healthcare, will be speaking at our WT | Wearable Technologies Conference 2018 USA in San Francisco on July 11-12.

Dr. Myron Wentz Science Center takes pride in providing students access to the most sophisticated technology available today, and the lab will play a crucial role to this effect. Omron Foundation is a leading provider of automation technology and creative solutions. The Foundation backs engineering education as well as STEM initiatives throughout the K-12 education levels.

North Central College faculty and students were also provided unlimited access to E-learning modules by the Omron Foundation. The E-learning modules are filled with valuable information on robotics, vision, control, safety and motion. They will be an essential part of the College’s new 4-year B.S. degrees in Computer, Mechanical and Electrical engineering starting in the 2018-2019 academic calendar.

Omron Foundation grants provided to the college’s Japanese language program allowed students to visit Japan each year and study there for ten weeks or longer. Omron has been supporting North Central College’s Japanese Language program since 2008 with the aim of helping students enhance understanding of Japanese-American cross-culture.
