The way smartwatch market is doing, it’s tough to get excited about yet another Wear OS device. But Marc Jacobs isn’t stepping back; the fashion designer has showed up fashionably late to the party.

The new Marc Jacobs smartwatch has a touchscreen and runs entirely on Wear OS. Modeled off its existing Riley hybrid smartwatch, Riley Touchscreen Smartwatch might be a bit late to arrive, but for the fashion brand, it’s the first touchscreen smartwatch that runs entirely on Wear OS; Marc Jacobs has up until now, only offered the hybrid models. Marc Jacobs first launched a version of the Riley watch in 2017.

The Riley, with a price tag of $295, has a somewhat bulky round case with one button instead of the three that adorned the side of its hybrid sibling released last year, which was based on the company’s existing Riley analog timepiece.

The watch has a 1.19-inch AMOLED display. Inside, things are quite similar to other Wear OS smartwatches with a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor. It has built-in Google Assistant, but you’ll need to have the watch connected to an iPhone or Android device in order to use this feature. The fantastic feature is that the device can be charged wirelessly and Marc Jacobs says that the battery will last for 24 hours on a single charge, which is a big departure from the hybrid model which boasted up to six months of battery life.

In general, the Riley Touchscreen feels light and comfortable. While the watch does have some activity tracking features, a Marc Jacobs’ advert suggests that it is being targeted more at the fashion conscious than those who want a fully featured smartwatch.

The watch comes in 3 elegant styles, allowing you to customize it to your outfit or mood.

These include a gold-tone case with a white silicone strap, a rose gold-tone case with a grey silicone strap and a black case with a black silicone strap.

The stylish accessories provide you all the features you’d expect from a smartwatch, including activity tracking, wireless charging, Google Assistant and access to numerous apps from Google Playstore.

The Riley has brand-specific watch faces pre-installed. This allows you to choose from the iconic Daisy design or options emblazoned with Marc Jacobs logos, and you can also customize your dial and accent colors.
