FallCall Launches Personal Emergency Response System App for Apple Watch and iPhone

FallCall Solutions, a West Hartford, Connecticut-based tech startup committed to simplifying communication for elders and caregivers on popular mobile and wearable ecosystems, announced that it has launched its second product, FallCall™ Lite, a Personal Emergency Response System (PERS) app built exclusively for Apple Watch and iPhone.

“FallCall will change the perceptions surrounding Personal Emergency Response Systems,” says Shea Gregg, MD, Founder, and President of FallCall Solutions.  “Elders and Caregivers will be able to connect through the Apple devices they already own in a simplified way that is more inclusive and engaging than previous generations of technology.”

Features in the FallCall Lite include:

  • Voice Activation using Siri®
  • Elder Apple Watch battery power monitoring by Caregivers
  • fully integrated subscription-based central monitoring service

Trained Emergency Medical Dispatchers make up the central monitoring service, which is available 24/7, provides emergency event updates in real-time via electronic messaging to up to 5 Caregivers on their iPhone or Apple Watch simultaneously.

The app is available free to download and use. It offers optional central monitoring for about half the cost of many Personal Emergency Response Systems ($14.99/month). Future versions will include “Smart” fall detection and machine learning capabilities.

During their career practicing physicians Shea and Kristin Gregg observed a growing number of falls among the elder population. So, they decided to do something about it and founded FallCall.

Standard PERS have been in existence as “help buttons” or bulky, stigmatizing devices for decades. But, they’re often not worn by the elderly and therefore, aren’t always readily available in an emergency situation.

The Greggs sought to create a service that addresses the significant limitations of traditional PERS. Using FallCall Lite, the elderlies can call for help using their voice, they can contact only their caregivers for help, they can ask about what’s going on during an emergency.
