Skylly Technologies, smart motorcycle helmet maker, whose executives were speaking at out WT | Wearable Technologies Conference 2018 USA in San Francisco, has finally started marketing their Skully Fenix AR head-up display motorcycle helmet. The new helmet now replaces the defunct Skully AR-1 which infamously crashed in July 2016.

“We’re so excited to begin shipping the first of the SKULLY FENIX AR helmets,” said Ivan Contreras, co-founder and CEO of SKULLY Technologies. “Out of our passion for personal mobility and safety, we’ve created a whole new caliber of rider experience that is unprecedented in today’s market.”

Cousins Ivan and Rafael Contreras purchased the assets of Skully Inc., a San Francisco tech startup whose past owners failed to bring the product to fruition. The cousins possess deep expertise in mobility and advanced material design, which they acquired from advanced studies at MIT.

The Contreras renamed the company SKULLY Technologies, brought in a management team with expertise in launching billion-dollar brands, and in less than 18 months, finished development and added to the capabilities of its innovative helmet.

The company is calling its new helmet the “world’s most intelligent smart helmet.” It gives riders a unique unparalleled experience that offers increased safety and optimal connectivity.

The FENIX AR smart helmet features:

  • A sleek design with heads-up display
  • Voice control
  • Turn-by-turn navigation
  • Rearview camera
  • Smartphone integration with Bluetooth
  • Hands-free music controls
  • Anti-fog visor
  • DOT certification

The SKULLY community has seen more than 60,000 new members who are eager to follow the company’s progress.

SKULLY COO John Lauten said it’s unprecedented that such a large number of members have joined the SKULLY Nation before the mobility product has even hit mass production. “We’re proud to deliver on our promise to this robust community and excited to receive their feedback on this sophisticated, high-tech, durable helmet,” he said.

Following the acquisition of assets from the former SKULLY Inc., SKULLY Technologies announced a new campaign called Make It Right. It was created to make sure everyone who pre-ordered or contributed to the previous start-up’s effort via Indiegogo receives a SKULLY FENIX AR helmet, an enhanced version of the SKULLY AR-1.

The company is shipping the FENIX AR helmets in the order in which they are received, with a portion of every allotment dedicated to Make It Right registrants. On September 21st, the company launched their new website (skullytechnologies.com) to take orders and continue to scale manufacturing.
