Razer, the global gaming hardware manufacturing company, has announced its new headset the Razer Nari Ultimate, a wireless gaming headset that’s packed with haptic drivers that vibrate along with loud sounds in an attempt to create a more immersive gaming experience.

Sound plays a critical role in gaming immersion. It engages your sense of hearing to determine the atmosphere and mood, creating a lifelike experience that lets you truly embody your game character.

The Razer Nari Ultimate, with THX Spatial Audio brings you 360° positional sound, giving you greater spatial awareness. The ergonomic design features have made this one of the most comfortable headsets for gaming.

This is the first wireless gaming headset to use advanced haptic drivers. The “HyperSense” haptic technology has been developed in collaboration with German engineering company Lofelt. The technology converts audio signals directly into tactile feedback, and the company claims that this enhances your positional awareness with its “multidimensional” haptic feedback.

During gameplay the haptics provide positional awareness for sounds and effects, but Razer HyperSense also works with movies and music, reports CNET.

“Lofelt is committed to raising the standard for haptic feedback to match the high-quality audio and video we’re used to in today’s devices. Teaming up with Razer is an incredible opportunity for us to demonstrate the value of the cutting-edge technology we developed. I’m thrilled we are at the forefront of realizing the true potential of advanced haptics and can’t wait for gamers to level up their gameplay with the Razer Nari Ultimate featuring haptics by Lofelt,” said Daniel Büttner, chief executive officer at Lofelt.

Razer used memory foam to build the earcups and lined them with cooling gel so that they keep your ears from getting too hot. A hidden channel in the cushion is for eyeglass frames to ease pressure on your temples. They’re covered in leatherette and can swivel to provide a snug fit. The headband gives you a soft springy feel and fits like a well-worn baseball cap.

The THX Spatial Audio goes beyond traditional surround sound by simulating sound in a 360° sphere around you. The Nari Ultimate lets you react to any in-game movement, even if it’s coming from above or beneath you, giving you heightened senses during your game.

“Razer consistently creates products with innovative technology to give gamers the best gaming experience possible. With the Razer Nari Ultimate, we are championing a whole new way for gamers to feel their games through Razer HyperSense,” said Razer Co-Founder and CEO Min-Liang Tan.

The Razer Nari Ultimate is available for $199.99. Two other models that do not have haptic feedback are cheaper and set to be available later this year for $149 and $99.99.
