Spotify announced that it’s rolling out a new Wear OS app soon. The standalone Wear OS app is a huge improvement over the previous Spotify app for Android Wear, which wasn’t regularly updated and left users depending on third-party apps to play their music through the streaming service.

Now, with the new Spotify Wear OS, you get more controls for music playback and browsing playlists. Most importantly, it adds Spotify Connect features which you can use to play music from your connected speakers.

“Starting today, Spotify’s new app for smartwatches on Wear OS by Google takes the work out of your hands (literally) and puts it on your wrist, leaving you free to run, dance, shop, socialize—and control your music at the same time,” said Spotify newsroom.

Spotify has also partnered with Fossil Group to bring the Spotify experience to more users using Wear OS by Google smartwatches. Starting in November, Spotify will be auto-installed on all Fossil Gen 4 Smartwatches and Michael Kors Access Runway Smartwatches.

“We’re excited to bring improved on-the-go-access to your favorite music and podcasts to millions of Spotify users on Wear OS by Google smartwatches,” said Mikael Ericsson, Senior Product Director at Spotify. “Being able to easily access, control, and connect music directly from your wrist opens up a world of new opportunities. We look forward to continuing to improve the Spotify experience in this space.”

With the new Spotify app on your smartwatch, you no longer need your smartphone to access your Discover Weekly playlist.  Spotify on your Wear OS gives you easy access to your music. Switching to a song that matches your mood and the tempo of your jog is now as easy as starting your stopwatch.

In addition to enjoying your music while working out, Spotify makes it easier for you to enjoy your music while cooking dinner, hosting a party, or playing board games; all you need is a simple flick of your wrist. You can also connect your home devices or speakers through Spotify Connect to seamlessly play DJ from your smartwatch, without interruption.

Accessing your recently played song is easier, even when your phone is in your pocket. If you discover a song that you like while jogging for example, just tap the ♡ icon on your watch screen and it’ll save it to your collection.

Spotify will be rolling out the new Wear OS app over the coming week. So, keep an eye out for the latest version of Spotify on Wear OS on Google Play.
