Some of us always feel cold, while others often feel too warm. What if there was a way to stop our vulnerabilities to temperature without bundling up or taking off our clothes.
German electronic engineering company Covestro, announced that it had collaborated with Embr Labs on a smart bracelet that can make the wearer feel warmer or colder by 5 degrees Fahrenheit. Covestro, who has its North America headquarters in Pittsburgh will be exhibiting with us at the WT | Wearable Technologies Show MEDICA 2019.
The device, called Embr Wave, allows people to hack the way they feel temperature. According to Embr Labs, the bracelet’s scientifically developed waveforms leverages the body’s natural systems to precisely stimulate the wearer’s thermoreceptors, making them feel cooler or warmer by 5 degrees in just a few minutes, says a press release.
Covestro is spotlighting applications utilizing its polycarbonates tailored to electronics, IT and communications applications at CES 2019.
Embr Labs conducted years of iterative prototyping and customer testing to develop this product. When it came time for the production design, the company wanted to use a frosted light pipe with LEDs as the primary user interface.
“We turned to Covestro to help select the right material and optimize the design for optical performance,” explains Embr Labs cofounder Sam Shames.
Covestro will host Embr Labs at its exhibit at the CES 2019 Conference and Exposition, January 8-11, in Las Vegas. Visitors can stop by the booth located in the Eureka Park Marketplace (Sands, Hall G – 52934) to learn more about Covestro’s materials and technical expertise for consumer technologies.
Wearable Technologies AG CEO Christian Stammel will also be at the CES 2019. He will moderate the session “Putting Wearables To Work” at the Wearable Tech Summit, a CES 2019 Conference track, on January 9th, 2019. Our 33rd edition of the WT Conference will be bigger than ever with more than 1.500 m2 floor space and over 80.000 visitors from WT and ISPO integrated into the brand-new innovation hall C6 of the Munich Tradeshow. More than 60 high-level speakers coming from Bayer, BMW, Casio, Gore, Microsoft, and STMicroelectronics will give you latest insights in their applications and digitalization strategies via IoT and WT solutions and drive your business development. In the afternoon of the first day, you will get also the chance to be connected to 30 future stars of our ecosystem via our annual IOT/WT INNOVATION WORLD CUP® pitch and award ceremony.
