German smartglasses vendor Picavi has launched a U.S. subsidiary called Picavi U.S., Inc. With an operations center in Chicago, Illinois, the company’s goal is to support its customers in North America and to speed up the roll-out of its pick-by-vision platform with a third-party logistics provider, Picavi said.

Carsten Funke, Chief Sales Officer and Partner at Picavi, has taken over the CEO position of Picavi U.S. Inc., reports Picavi.

“The founding of Picavi U.S. Inc. aims to boost the internationalization of our business development with even greater dynamism. Direct access to markets should not be underestimated and this will help us market our product and process innovations even more effectively in the future,” says Funke. “This will also enable us to make our smart glasses available to customers and partners in the USA and adapt them to the specific warehouse and IT environment. As a result, we’ll be able to live up to our claim of being a full-service provider for our customers to an even greater degree.”

Picavi is a prime partner of the X.Company, previously known as Google X and manufacturer of Google Glass, in the field of logistics, and is a preferred user of the latest model of the Glass Enterprise Edition.

Founded in 2013 in Herzogenrath, Germany, Picavi uses Alphabet Inc.’s Google Glass platform to visually manage the picking process for goods in logistics in a consistent manner. According to the company, its smartglasses maximizes productivity at warehouses and minimizes errors by allowing workers to have both hands free while picking goods. An extensive network of service, integration, technology and sales partners supports the work of the company’s 30 employees.
